Adaptive Learning Paths is a feature that adds on to the experience of our out-of-the-box Learning Paths.
Use Case Information
Adaptive Learning Paths let you customize the content that a learner sees in a learning path based on their current knowledge and experience. By using Competency Assessments, you can configure a learning path to provide an individualized learning experiences based on the learner's responses to the assessment.
Paths can be flexible to provide a "Choose Your Own Adventure" experience, or paths can be more controlled to meet necessary completion and certification requirements. These options also help learners quickly access the content most relevant to a them, let learners bypass content they already know or have mastered, and alleviates the frustration of taking content they have already seen to provide a frictionless learning experience.
Adaptive Learning Paths are a premium feature and behind a feature flag.
Navigate to Apps in your instance to request to have this feature enabled on your site.
Tip
If your end goal is to test a learner's knowledge of the overall learning path, a competency assessment would work well if:
- You do not need to control the number of attempts.
- You do not need to forgive attempts.
If you need that level of control, we recommend creating a course with the necessary assessment for the final milestone rather than using the competency assessment.
