Redesigned Content Creation Flow Preview
Introducing an electrifying redesign of the Add Content and Add Events experiences! Get ready to be blown away by the sleek simplicity tailored especially for our newcomers. Get seamlessly guided through a wizard flow focused on core content types, ensuring every required field is filled before diving into the Authoring UI.
Preview Toggle until July
Main Site and Panorama users, equipped with the right authoring permissions, can now sneak a peek into the future. A Preview button has been unleashed, allowing you to toggle between the classic and brand-spanking-new interface. This Preview button is user specific so you can test out these changes without sending shockwaves across the instance. So go ahead and hit that Preview button and embark on an exhilarating journey into the future of our platform, starting today!
To enable the preview, go to Courses > All Courses > Click the plus icon to add content > enable the preview.
Note
This is a design change only--all functionality, permissions, and required fields have been maintained.
Don't worry about your custom content types! While the creation flow now emphasizes core content types, your custom ones are still fully functional. Simply head to the Authoring UI, navigate to the Design step, and select Edit Catalog Settings to update your custom content type as necessary. Easy as pie!
When creating content from scratch, your new content item will be assigned the content type name based on the first relevant name on the content type interface. For example, based on the content type list pictured below, if I were to create an Article, it would have the content type name set as "Blog" because that's the first content type on the list using the Article template. To view your content type interface, go to Courses > Settings > Content Types. Learn more about Content Types in this article.
Tip
Starting July, we'll be rolling out the brand-new experience to replace the current workflow. But don't worry, we've got your back! We encourage you to give it a try beforehand and dip your toes in the water. Let's make sure you're all set to dive into this exciting change!
