Use Case Information
When you first create a content item, the name of the item becomes the part of the URL or slug, located at the end of the URL. For example, if you created a course called Application Development, the URL would append the slug of application-development to the end of the URL, as shown here: https://yoursite.thoughtindustries.com/courses/application-development. This is visible on the content item's detail page URL, in addition to the course URL.
In the process of editing and updating your course, you may decide to change a content items's URL, which can be done in course settings by following the steps below.
Warning
You cannot change the slug on:
- a course with sessions,
- any VILT/Webinar content with or without pre/post learning enabled,
- standalone SCORM or xAPI content items,
- or a course with children content.
Updating a Content Item's URL
- From your homepage, select Courses, then All Courses.
- Click the Content Title for the course you want to alter.
- Click the Design step.
- Click Edit Catalog Settings.
- Go to the Advanced Settings tab and see the Current URL container.

Note
Changing your URL will break any existing links or bookmarks to this course. To avoid this, we recommend only updating URLs of courses that have not yet been released to learners who might have already accessed the course.
