This article explains various methods for provisioning access to content in Panorama.
Use Case Information
Panorama makes it easy to accomplish any combination of content access while offering the same branded experience to all learners within a Panorama, regardless of what content they can or can't access. You may want to provision access to all learners in the Panorama. However, you might want different learners to have access to specific content that is relevant to them. Main Sublicense and Other Sublicenses Within a Panorama
When a new Panorama client is created, the system creates a main sublicense for the new Panorama. This main sublicense automatically contains the content that is provisioned and accessible by learners in the Panorama. Every learner in a Panorama should also be assigned a sublicense.
Because the main sublicense contains all content provisioned at the Panorama level, this is the best sublicense to use when learners need access to all content given to the client.
If you'd like to provision content to different cohorts within a particular client, create additional sublicenses for each cohort. Content must be added to the panorama before it can be distributed to any other sublicense(s) in the Panorama client. Learners within the client will have the same branded experience and will adhere to any master license terms.
Adding Content to a Panorama and Main Sublicense
Any content granted to the panorama will automatically be granted to the Main Sublicense. No other sublicense has this relationship with the panorama.
- From the homepage, select Panorama.
- Click the Actions drop-down next to the client you want to alter and select Edit.
- From the left menu, select Content.
- Click the Gear Icon on the top right, then click Manage Content.
- Use the fields to find and select individual courses or learning paths. You can also enter one or more content tags.
Tip
Provisioning content via tags allows you to add content in bulk to the account, including courses, articles, videos, and learning paths. Add or remove tags from the Manage Content page at any point to update existing learners' access.
Warning
If you add a tag to a Panorama account, any course that has that tag will automatically get added to the Panorama account. This includes any future courses where you add the tag later.
- When you're done, click Save.
Adding Content to Additional Sublicenses
After adding content to the panorama, you can grant content to sublicenses you've created within the panorama. Only content granted at the panorama level will appear as options to grant to sublicenses.
- From the homepage, select Panorama.
- Click the Actions drop-down next to the client you want to alter and select Edit.
- From the left menu, select Sublicenses.
- Click the Info Icon next to the sublicense you'd like to add content to.
- Click the Pencil Icon.
- Click the Content tab.
- Add the content, learning path, and/or tag that the sublicense should have access to.
- When you're done, click Save.
Note
Content fields mirror what you have provisioned at the panorama level. For example, if you've provisioned content by tags and have left the other content fields blank at the panorama level, the sublicense will only display the option to add content by tags. Additionally, only the tags provisioned to the panorama will be options to add to the sublicense.
