Keeping track of users might be a regular task for you, but don't worry, we're here to lend a hand! Let's explore some effective strategies for quickly locating the user you need.
Use Case Information
Anyone who is assigned a role that has Manage Users permissions will be able to easily search for an existing user within the site. These Users will have the ability to do the following:
- Review a user's profile
- Adjust user permissions
- Provision Content and Panorama Access
Note
Depending on the particular permissions configured for your role, you may not be able to access and modify user details. See Editing a User Record for more information.
Tip
You can also create custom admin roles to suit your needs. See our Managing Admin Users article for more information about how to create a custom admin role.
How to Find a Learner
Search for an individual learner when you need to update learner information, grant access to content, or disable a learner so they can no longer sign into your site. Additionally, you can view learner engagement, forgive assessment attempts, manually grant certificates and awards, and view select learner reports, among other actions.
- From your homepage, select Users > Learners.
- Navigate to the search field at the top of the page and enter the user email address or name you're searching for.
- Click the magnifying glass to hit Enter to complete the search.
- Once you locate your user, click on the user's name to view the user's profile. If a user is part of a Panorama, the name of the Panorama will be listed under the Panorama column of the search interface.
- From here, you can view or modify user information.
- Click Save.
Tip
To view disabled learners, click View Disabled at the bottom of the page. This is a great first place to check if you're having trouble finding a user.
How to Find a Manager
Search for an individual manager when you need to update user information or disable a manager so they can no longer log into your site. Based on the admin's permissions, you can complete similar actions as when you view a learner's profile, like view a manager's content engagement and manually grant certificates and awards. Be sure to carefully review each role's permissions by category by visiting Users > Managers > Select Role > Click Gear Icon > View Role Permissions.
- From your homepage, select Users > Managers.
- Navigate to the search field at the top of the page and enter the user email address or name.
- Click the magnifying glass to hit Enter to complete the search.
- Once you locate your user, click on the user's name to review manager details.
- From here, you can view or modify user information.
- Click Save.
Tip
To view disabled managers, click View Disabled at the bottom of the any role list. This is a great first place to check if you're having trouble finding a user. Once you've navigated to any disabled users list, you can still use the search feature to get results across manager roles for disabled users.
Tip
Use an asterisk to denote a wildcard and search for partial strings. For example, searching for "bas*" will return results for "basic," "baseball," and "Count Basie Orchestra."
