Paywall Terms allow for you to edit or add additional information around a purchase of content. This article goes over how to update these terms for individual content and ecommerce items.
Tip

Use Case Information
Paywall text is the custom messaging you can optionally add to the Paywall Text, Purchase Terms, Email Capture and/or Order Confirmation page and email that a user receives when making a purchase. You can customize the text for each individual piece of content and eCommerce items, as desired.
When configured you can control the following:
- Show Email capture information if using free preview
- Show Paywall text if using free preview
- Display confirmation information upon purchase
Paywall Options
During the purchase flow or free preview flow, certain paywall information can be edited to make sure all messaging is consistent. Depending on the content type, there are 4 options to consider:
Email Capture
If you choose to include free preview lessons for your courses, you can customize the email capture information. The information will show when a learner clicks on the preview link, on the email capture page. When the user enters an email address, the learner will then be taken to the preview lesson within the course interface.

Paywall Text
Once the learner views all preview pages, the paywall page will prompt the user to purchase the full course. The Paywall text will be shown upon reaching this page.
Purchase Terms
Purchase Terms, if any, are Terms that must be accepted as part of the purchase. By default, additional purchase terms are blank and the Thought Industries terms are shown. If you add terms they will be placed above the default.
Confirmation
Confirmation text is the custom messaging you can add to the order confirmation page and email that a user receives after making a purchase. Confirmation pages and emails automatically pull in the site logo, item title, description, image and price, as well as whether any coupons were applied.
Tip
All text fields are WYSIWYG editors. There are a number of formatting options inside the text editor, and you may also add custom HTML by selecting the HTML formatting link.

Editing Paywall Options
These steps apply to most content types. Please refer to the table above (Paywall Options section) for specific content type paths and options.
- From your homepage, select Courses > All Courses.
- Click the Content Title for the course you want to alter and select the Enrollment step.
- In the left sidebar, select Ecommerce and scroll down to click Advanced.
Tip
If you don't see these options, make sure Free with Registration is disabled.
- Click the button Edit Paywall & Terms.
- Populate the fields with your customized language:
- Email Capture
- Paywall Text
- Purchase Terms
- Confirmation
- Click Save.
Editing Confirmation of E-Commerce Items
- From your homepage, select Ecommerce > Products.
- Click the Actions drop-down next to the item you want to alter and select Edit.
- Locate the Confirmation field and populate with your custom messaging.
- Click Save.
