You have the option to add header and footer links that will display across the entire learning site as learners navigate (e.g., home page, catalog, course detail, etc.).
Note
The header and footer links do not persist on the learner dashboard or within the learner view, such as within courses, etc.
You can customize these links to reflect the needs of your organization, or forgo them all together—whatever makes the most sense for your use case.

How do I do this?
To create header or footer links:
- From your homepage, select Design.
- From the left menu, select Theme and then Header.
- Click Add Item.
- Next, you will have the option of linking to several different page types.
- Course: links users to a specific course within your instance.
Note
You can only link to a course if it is released.
- Page on my public site: links users to a page within the public site created at Design > Pages.
- Subscription: links users to an existing subscription.
- Course Catalog: links users to the course catalog. We recommended adding this header to all sites.
- Registration: links users to your free registration page.
- Other URL: links users to any other web page you want (i.e. your company’s homepage).
- Course: links users to a specific course within your instance.
- Select the page type you want to link to.
- Add the link text that you want to appear where learners will click, and populate the other relevant fields.
- Click Save.
Tip
The same directions apply when adding a footer. Just be sure to navigate to Design > Theme > Footer.
To delete header or footer links:
- You can delete a header or footer link by clicking on the trash can icon on the main header/footer page.
To rearrange header or footer links:
- You can change the display order of a link by clicking the up/down arrows on the main header/footer page until the link has moved to the desired position.
Tip
You can create drop-down menus by adding sublinks to each header link. To add a sublink, go to the header/footer main page, click Add Sublink, and follow directions as listed above.
What else do I need to know?
- Uploading an image when adding a header or footer will automatically create a clickable image that users will click to get to the desired page.
