Anyone visiting your site has the option to gift content and eCommerce items to others (both already existing learners as well as non-registered learners). The "Gift this {item}" link is located on the detail page directly under the listing price. The link takes the gifter through the normal eCommerce process, specifically requesting the gift recipient's email address so that they can be sent a link to access their content.

How do I do this?
Normal flow when gifting a course
- To purchase a gift, the gifter clicks Gift this {item} on the detail page, walks through the checkout flow, and enters the gifter's name, email address, when the gift should be delivered, and a gift message. The gifter will see an order confirmation page once the purchase is complete and will also receive a receipt via email.
- A gifted redemption code is created in the system for the particular item that was gifted. These codes can be viewed at Users > Redemption Codes > View Gifted Redemption Codes. Note that these codes are added when gifts are purchased and are attached to a specific item, not to a specific learner.
- The gift recipient's invite is sent to the email address entered by the gifter at purchase. This email will include a URL that will bring the recipient to a registration page where their redemption code will automatically be validated.
Note
The gift recipient will not be presented with the code as they will not need to enter it.
- Once registered, the gift recipient is created as a learner in the system and will find that they have access to their gifted content on their learner dashboard.
What else do I need to know?
If a gift recipient reports that the gift was not received there are a few different options to help them achieve access to it.
- Recommend the giftee check their spam or other folders in their inbox for their gift. Email invites are always sent from the system but sometimes they can get lost.
- If the gift recipient did not receive their invite:
- Create a new redemption code for the gift recipient for the relevant content under Users > Redemption Codes.
- Send an email with a URL link to the redemption page (www.mycustomdomain.com/redeem) and the redemption code OR include a URL with the redemption code appended which will redeem automatically (www.mycustomdomain.com/redeem/CODEHERE).
