Thought Industries integrates with Synthesia, an AI video creation platform that helps teams create, localize, and update high-quality training videos faster. With this integration, customers can embed Synthesia videos anywhere video is supported in Thought Industries today, including course content and standalone video assets, using the full Synthesia video player.
Use Case Information
Modern learning programs increasingly rely on video first content, but traditional video production can be time consuming, expensive, and difficult to scale, especially when content needs frequent updates or must be delivered in multiple languages. The Thought Industries + Synthesia integration helps teams scale professional training video experiences by enabling video creation and management in Synthesia, with delivery directly inside Thought Industries.
The Synthesia integration is behind a feature flag.
Navigate to Apps in your instance to request to have this feature enabled on your site.
When configured, this integration supports:
- Faster, lower-cost video production cycles
- Easier localization and multilingual delivery
- Simple updates and ongoing maintenance as products and processes change
- Consistent quality and branding across training content
- More modern, engaging video-first learning experiences
Use this integration to create high-quality training videos faster and keep them current, localized, and easy to deliver inside Thought Industries.
Example Use Cases:
- Customer onboarding videos (feature walkthroughs, how-to guides)
- Product update announcements translated for global regions
- Partner and sales enablement content localized across markets
- Internal SOP and process training converted from static docs to video
- Microlearning modules created quickly by SMEs
How it Works
This integration allows admins and content creators to build and manage videos in Synthesia, then add them directly into Thought Industries. Videos are embedded using the full Synthesia player, helping ensure the learner experience stays current and accessible.
The Synthesia integration enables your team to embed Synthesia videos anywhere video is supported in Thought Industries today, including:
- Course content (as video pages)
- Standalone videos (content object)
- Inside microcontent (articles, microcourses)
- In Site Builder (on layouts & custom pages)
To Add a Video:
Admins add the Synthesia video ID associated with the video they created in Synthesia. For those using Wistia, think of this the same way you’d use a Wistia Media ID. Thought Industries then renders the video using the full Synthesia player, so learners experience the same playback capabilities available in Synthesia, including translation options and seamless updates when changes are made to the video (depending on your Synthesia plan and configuration).
Note
Completion criteria aren’t currently supported for Synthesia videos because Synthesia does not provide progress or completion tracking today. We’re working to enable this functionality as quickly as possible.
Before You Get Started
Before embedding Synthesia videos in Thought Industries, make sure your team has the required access and video details available. This helps ensure a smooth setup and publishing workflow.
You'll Need:
- A Synthesia account/contract
- The Synthesia video ID for any video you want to embed
Good To Know:
- Videos are embedded using the full Synthesia video player (they are not uploaded as video files).
- Translation/localization and update behavior depends on your Synthesia plan and how your videos are configured in Synthesia.
FAQs
Where do I find the Synthesia video ID?
The Synthesia video ID is provided in Synthesia and is associated with each individual video. You’ll use that ID in TI to embed the correct video.
Does embedding a Synthesia video upload the video file into Thought Industries?
No. Videos are embedded using the full Synthesia video player rather than being uploaded as video files.
If I update a video in Synthesia, do I need to re-add it in Thought Industries?
In most cases, updates made in Synthesia can be reflected in TI without re-exporting or re-uploading content, since TI is embedding the video through the Synthesia player. (Behavior may depend on your Synthesia plan and how your videos are configured.)
Can learners access translation features in the embedded player?
The embedded experience uses the full Synthesia video player, which can support translation capabilities. Availability depends on your Synthesia plan and how each video is configured.
What happens if a video is removed or access changes in Synthesia?
Because TI embeds videos from Synthesia, availability and access depend on the video’s status and permissions in Synthesia. If a video is removed or restricted in Synthesia, it may no longer display as expected in TI.
