Conversational AI Learning allows learners to find answers, discover relevant content, and enroll in courses using natural language, without needing to browse catalogs or guess specific keywords. Learners can ask a question and receive a clear response along with links to the most relevant content.
Use Case Information
This feature is designed for learners who need to quickly find information or guidance, whether they’re trying to learn something new, explore available content, or take the next step.
Traditional search often requires learners to know the exact terms to use or to browse through multiple resources. Conversational AI Learning allows learners to ask questions directly and receive relevant answers, reducing time and effort.
How It Works
Conversational AI Learning uses AI-powered search to understand the intent behind a learner’s question and return the most relevant information.Learners can ask questions in natural language or enter a keyword search. Pressing Enter takes learners directly into the Ask AI chat experience. When relevant, learners may also receive a prompt to enroll directly in a course from within the Ask AI experience, a single action that takes them from discovery to enrolled with no additional steps.
If a clear answer is not available, the system suggests related topics or alternative queries to help guide the learner.
Enabling Conversational AI Learning
Conversational AI Learning must be enabled before learners can access it. Once enabled, the feature is available sitewide and will be visible to all learners, including those accessing content through Panorama. And don’t worry, the system enforces access controls, ensuring learners can only view content they’re authorized to access.
To enable Conversational AI Learning:
- From your Admin Homepage, navigate to Apps.
- Click Conversational AI Learning.
- Review and accept the Terms of Service.
The feature will only be enabled once the Terms of Service have been accepted.
Once enabled, Conversational AI Learning becomes available to learners automatically. Learners can access the Ask AI experience from any page using the AI Assistant button, which persists in the bottom right corner. On a learner's first visit, a pulse animation displays around the AI Assistant button to draw attention to the feature. The AI Assistant button remains visible on all pages regardless of whether the header search bar is enabled.
A search bar is also available in the header, next to the site logo, as an additional entry point to the Ask AI experience. To enable it, contact Thought Industries Support. If your site uses a custom header, we recommend using the AI Assistant button instead, as custom headers may affect the placement or appearance of the search bar.
To use Conversational AI Learning:
- Navigate to any page, let's say the Learner Dashboard, for example.
- Select the AI Assistant Button.
- Enter a question in plain language, or search by key word.
- Review the response and follow links to relevant content.
In the Ask AI experience, learners can continue asking follow-up questions within the same interaction.
Where Answers Come From
Once enabled, learners can begin using the search experience immediately.
Learners may be able to find information more quickly and with fewer steps. Instead of browsing through multiple resources, they can move from a question to a relevant answer in a single interaction.
The quality of results depends on the clarity and accuracy of the content available in your platform.

When a learner is nudged toward a course or enrolls through Conversational AI, the experience includes interactive action cards that provide inline confirmation. A successful enrollment displays a confirmation card with the course name and a direct link to begin learning. If enrollment cannot be completed (for example, due to a full session, unmet prerequisites, or restricted access), the learner sees an error card with a clear explanation and actionable next steps, such as joining a waitlist or viewing required prerequisite courses.
