Panorama User Management Enhancements
The Panorama User Management Enhancements feature was shaped by feedback from dozens of customers through Community conversations and direct interviews—thanks to all who helped guide it. It reflects our continued commitment to strengthening the platform foundation that helps Thought Industries power your learning programs alongside our investment in modern learning experiences and technologies that help learners achieve meaningful outcomes and support your business objectives.
PANORAMA
Coming Next Week: More Control Over Learner Panorama and License Changes
Your audiences, and the access they need, may change over time. A learner may move to a different company, purchase a new product or access tier, or become part of a reorganized team or program.
Next week, we’re introducing new individual and bulk workflows that give administrators greater control over these changes. Admins will be able to move learners between Panoramas and sublicenses while deciding which enrollments and progress records should be preserved or reset.
This allows organizations to evolve their audience and access models without recreating learner records, fragmenting learning histories, or unnecessarily disrupting the learner experience.
Admins will be able to:
- Move an individual learner between Panoramas and sublicenses through a guided workflow.
- Select and update groups of learners in a single operation.
- Preview how a change will affect learners’ content access.
- Choose whether to retain access, preserve progress, or reset progress for content learners are leaving behind.
Greater control over enrollments and progress
Before confirming a change, admins can select what should happen to affected enrollments:
- Keep access: Convert the enrollment to a direct enrollment so the learner retains access independently of their Panorama or sublicense.
- Preserve progress: Remove access while retaining the learner’s progress, allowing them to resume if access is restored later.
- Reset progress: Remove access and permanently reset the learner’s progress.
Certificates, badges, awards, and transcript records will always be preserved, regardless of the selected option.
Role-based permissions remain the same
Main-site administrators with permission to edit users will be able to change or remove learners’ Panorama assignments in bulk. From a Panorama’s learner list, they will also be able to add or remove sublicenses for multiple learners.
Panorama administrators with permission to edit users will be able to add or remove sublicenses for learners within the Panoramas they already manage. They will not be able to move learners between Panoramas or remove learners’ Panorama assignments.
These workflows do not expand anyone’s existing permissions or access. Admins will only see actions they are already authorized to perform. This release provides a new, more controlled pattern to complete those actions.
Backward-compatible API and SSO updates
The same enrollment-decision framework will be available through the REST API and for Panorama changes initiated through SAML, OpenID Connect, or JWT SSO.
These changes are backward compatible. Existing integrations will continue to preserve enrollments and progress by default, so no immediate action is required and existing workflows will not break.
Organizations only need to update their API requests or SSO attribute mappings if they want to use the new enrollment and progress controls.
More detail coming in support articles when these new flows are released next week!
We released fixes for the following:
Manual Credly Badge Grants
We fixed an issue where admins received an error when trying to manually give a Credly badge to a learner. This happened when the same badge was linked to more than one course. You can now manually grant these badges without errors, and they will sync correctly with Credly. This change does not affect badges that are automatically earned by finishing a course.
Catalog Widget Visibility in Panorama
Fixed an issue where Catalog widgets on the learner dashboard would appear empty when the Panorama setting Always display content detail page to learners? was enabled. Catalog widgets now correctly display matching content regardless of this setting, ensuring a consistent experience for learners.
"Edit Role Requirements" Visibility
Fixed an issue where the "Edit Role Requirements" option was missing for Learner roles in the manager user list. It is now consistently available for all roles.
Reliable Expiration Reminders for Recertification
We resolved an issue where learners using the "Recertify in Current Session" setting were not receiving certificate expiration reminders (30, 7, and 1-day notifications). The system now correctly identifies system-triggered recertification windows, ensuring these informational reminders are sent as scheduled even after course access is revoked for recertification.
Instant "Replace File" Visibility for PDF Pages
We resolved an issue where the "Replace File" option only appeared after a browser refresh following a PDF upload. The page now updates instantly, allowing for immediate file management. This fix also ensures the actual filename is displayed, adds a "Cancel" button to the upload flow, and removes duplicate "Add File" buttons.
