Use Case Information
On occasion you might find yourself in a place where it makes sense to link to course resources, discussions, and/or image galleries from a specific page within a course. In doing so, you’ll have more flexibility in the content you provide without having to duplicate the effort.
How to Link to Course Resources or Gallery Images
- From your homepage, select Courses > All Courses.
- Click the Content Title.
- From the course outline, select the Preview eye icon at the top right.
- In the left menu, while in preview mode, select Resources or Gallery in the learner sidebar menu .
- Navigate to the resource or gallery you'd like to link to in the course and copy the URL from your browser. If you want to link to a specific section, just click into the section and copy that URL.
- Now, go back to your course outline and select the course page where you want to add the link. In edit mode, you can use the text editor to link the URL by clicking the link icon, clicking Insert Link, and pasting in your URL.
- Paste in your URL and click Insert.
How to Link to Discussions
You can link to pages in a course that have discussions enabled, course pages using the specific Discussion page type, or custom pages that have the Communities widget.
To link to course pages:
- From your homepage, select Courses > All Courses.
- Click the Content Title.
- From the course outline, select the Preview eye icon at the top right.
- While in preview mode, find the course page that you would like to link to and copy the URL from your browser.
- If discussions are enabled in the course, you will see discussion threads at the bottom of each course page. But maybe there is a specific thread in one section that you want to link to. Go to one of the course pages where that thread appears and use that page URL to point users to the discussion thread at the bottom of the course page.
- The other option is to have a specific Discussions page in a course. Navigate to the Discussions page and copy the URL.
- Now, go back to the course outline and select the course page where you want to add the link. In edit mode, you can use the text editor to link the URL by clicking the link icon, clicking Insert Link, and pasting in your URL.
