Reporting shows you what people ask Lens, the answers they get, and where those answers come from. It covers every channel, all in one place.
This article explains the two pages in Reporting, how to look at a single interaction up close, how to spot missing content, and how to save a report.
Use Case Information
If you want to know what your customers are really asking about, Reporting shows you in their own words. If someone tells you Lens gave a wrong answer, you can find that exact interaction and see which content it came from, so you know what to fix. If you're planning what to write next, the questions Lens couldn't answer are your to-do list.
What You'll See in Reporting
Reporting in the menu on the left has two pages:
- Metrics: Key numbers and a list of recent interactions. Available on every plan.
- Interactions: A closer look at every interaction, with tools to analyze them. Available on paid plans.
An interaction is one exchange between a person or AI tool and Lens: what was asked, the answer, and the sources used.
Metrics
At the top of the Metrics page, choose a time range: 12 months, 30 days, 7 days, or 24 hours. Three numbers give you a quick summary:
- Total interactions: How many questions people asked.
- Avg time to first token: On average, how quickly Lens starts answering.
- Avg sources per answer: On average, how many sources Lens used for each answer.
Below that is a list of interactions. Each row shows the source, where the question came from, the channel that answered (like a widget, MCP, or the API), and the date.
Interactions
The Interactions page has two tabs. Interaction history lists each interaction with the sources used and its status. Interaction analysis groups questions so you can spot patterns.
How to View an Interaction Up Close
- In Reporting, find the interaction. You can search, or filter by date.
- Click the row to open the interaction detail.
- On the Details tab, review the exact question, the sources Lens used, how long the answer took, the page the person was on, and the channel that answered.
- Click the Answer tab to read the full answer the person saw. Switch between Formatted and Raw to see it as displayed or as plain text.
Tip
If an answer was wrong, look at the sources Lens used. Fixing the content in that source fixes the answer in every channel.
How to Find Missing Content
When Lens can't find an answer in your content, it says so instead of guessing. Those interactions show you exactly what your customers need that you haven't written yet.
- In Reporting, look for answers where Lens couldn't find the information.
- Look for questions that come up again and again.
- Write or update content to cover those topics in whichever source makes the most sense, like your help center or docs, then sync that source.
Checking this once a week is a simple habit that keeps your answers getting better over time.
How to Save a Report
A report saves a Metrics view, with the dates and filters you chose, so you can come back to it or download it. Reports are available on every plan.
- On the Metrics page, choose the time range and filters you want.
- Click Create report.
- Find it later under Saved reports, where you can also Download it.
FAQs
Invite them to your workspace from the People page under Administration. If they only need a one-time look, download a report and send them the file.
Yes. Each workspace has its own knowledge layer and channels, so Reporting only shows interactions for the workspace you're in.
