Assignments are great for instructor-led courses. Learners can submit a typed response, upload a file for instructor grading, or have a lively discussion with classmates. The instructor can grade the assignment and have a threaded private discussion with the user.
Where do I find this?
Content > Manage Content > Click on Content Title > Add Page > Assignment
How do I do this?
- From your homepage, select Content, then Manage Content.
- Click the Content Title for to the course you want to alter.
- Within the Course Outline, go to the lesson where you'd like to add an assignment page. Click Add Page.
- Choose the Assignment page type.
- Add a page title.
- Click Save.
- Enter the assignment description, due date (if applicable).
- Upload any applicable resource files.
- Options under Assignment Options:
- Choose whether this assignment will require completion before a learner can proceed within the course. If "Prevent Course Progress" is toggled to "Yes", an instructor must mark the assignment complete.
- Option to turn this assignment page into a graded discussion. If "Enable Discussion Assignment?" is toggled to "Yes", the assignment page will have a place for learners to submit a comment in response to your prompt on a discussion board. Each learner's comments and replies will be available in the Grading interface. For more details, see the Creating a Discussion Assignment Page article.
- Option that will allow learners to record a video and submit. Toggle "Allow learners to record a video for this assignment?" to "Yes" if you'd like to enable this option.
Video Recording is a premium feature and behind a feature flag.

- Directing learners to an external URL to complete an activity outside of the system is also an option via External Activity.

- You also have these options under Advanced Settings:
- Unlocking for editing by children?
- # of seconds required for completion
- Audio Narration File
- Click Save.
What else do I need to know?
- A text block can be added above and/or below the Assignment Description by selecting the Add Text Block link.
- The maximum file size for student uploads is 20MB.
